Chrono Odyssey: Lessons Learned from Closed Beta and Roadmap to Late-2025 Launch
Chrono Odyssey, the anticipated MMORPG from Chrono Studio, concluded its closed beta on June 23 and now its creators have published a detailed report on their takeaways and the improvement plan they will implement before the next phase.

Gameplay and Combat Improvements
In the first part of their post-mortem, the team acknowledges that while many players enjoyed the core experience, combat responsiveness, animation quality, and hit timing fell short of expectations. To address this, they are:
- Redesigning combat mechanics and refining hit feedback timing.
- Separating movement and combat data into independent packets to optimize client–server communication.
- Introducing a new weapon progression system called Matrix, enabling smoother and more meaningful gear advancement.
Camera and Control Fixes
Reports of inconsistent lock-on behavior and erratic camera collisions are being addressed with:
- Tweaks to the lock-on mechanics for more accurate target tracking.
- Fixes to environmental collisions to prevent “snapping” and cameras getting stuck on walls or objects.
Performance Optimization
To improve stability and reduce GPU and memory load, Chrono Studio will implement:
- Asset rendering restructuring using Instanced Static Mesh systems and trim sheets to decrease texture redundancy.
- Dynamic loading of collision data based on player proximity and line of sight, reducing overhead in distant scenes.

Graphics Update
On the visual front, improvements include:
- Shader consolidation and a revamped lighting system.
- Support for DLSS and FSR to boost framerate without sacrificing quality.
- Enhancements to Temporal Super Resolution for a sharper and more stable image in motion.
What’s Coming in Part 2?
Chrono Studio previews that the next installment will cover:
- UI/UX design and ergonomics.
- Sound design and ambient effects.
- Progression balance beyond weapons.
- Server stability and scaling for the next test phase.
Although the team emphasizes their commitment to transparency and polish before moving forward, they acknowledge these adjustments may delay the planned late-2025 launch. As stated in their article: “We don’t plan on rushing ahead without first getting things right,” an approach many players will appreciate ahead of the official release.
